About the Group
We are Mentora Group, a fast-growing professional services and IT specialist firm, with approximately 180 employees and plans to scale to 300+ within 24 months through organic growth and acquisitions. The brands within the Mentora Group are HLB Ireland and FutureRange.
HLB Ireland is a leading advisory & accounting firm working with ambitious domestic and overseas businesses in Ireland. Based in Dublin, the firm was established in 1976 and continues to grow its client base, services and sector specialists.
FutureRange is a leading IT Managed Services and Cybersecurity advisory business, established in 1995 and part of the Group since 2020.
The Group has completed 10 transactions in the last seven years, some of which include DigitalWell Managed Services in 2026, Lowry & Associates in June 2024, Garry IT in May 2021 and Conlon Crotty Murray in May 2019. The group are actively seeking opportunities to partner with other accounting and IT Managed Services firms across the island of Ireland.

Position Summary
The Group Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting the Group through its next phase of growth, providing financial leadership, commercial insight and operational excellence across the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, managing cash flow and driving continuous improvement across finance processes and systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance leader who is keen to make an impact, challenge existing practices, and help shape a scalable finance function capable of supporting an ambitious growth and acquisition agenda.
Key Responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting:
- Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely monthly group management accounts providing insightful analysis and commentary on financial performance, highlighting key trends, risks and opportunities.
- Maintain the integrity of financial data and reporting across all group entities.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Develop and enhance management reporting to improve business insight and decision-making.
- Lead the financial integration of acquired businesses, driving the harmonisation of systems, reporting structures, controls and working capital management to support growth objectives.
Audit & Compliance
- Manage the Group audit process end to end from planning through to completion.
- Act as the principal liaison between the business and external auditors.
- Ensure any audit recommendations are appropriately addressed and implemented.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
Financial Controls
- Manage all treasury, working capital and cashflow requirements across the group.
- Establish and monitor billing and collection targets.
- Responsibility for covenant reporting and tracking.
- Develop and maintain strong financial control and governance frameworks across the group, driving standardisation, operational efficiency and improved reporting quality.
- Overall ownership of the Group’s cost base, ensuring robust financial controls, effective cost management and continuous identification of efficiency opportunities.
Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance, ensuring the function continues to support the Group’s growth through operational excellence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted finance partner.
- Lead or contribute to ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required, supporting the evolving needs and priorities of the business.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with min 5 years PQE
- Naturally curious with a drive to improve processes through automation and technology
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; confident engaging with senior stakeholders
- Proven experience in leading and building high performing teams
- Strong technical accounting skills and commercial awareness
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information into practical business insights and actions.
- Highly skilled in accounting systems and other finance tools, expert-level Excel skills, and a proficiency in business intelligence tools (such as Power BI) is an advantage.
